Pukekura Park is a world-renowned park located in the heart of Ngāmotu - New Plymouth city. Beginning its life as a barren and swampy valley, it has been shaped into one of the best inner-city parks in Aotearoa. The park covers approximately 52ha and contains a diverse range of landscapes, including many plant collections, exotic specimen trees, formal gardens, lakes and walking trails through native bush. The park includes the Fernery and Display Houses and is open 8.30 am–4 pm daily, except Christmas Day. The facility is recognised internationally by horticulturalists for its house design, propagation expertise, and consistently high-quality plant displays.

Pukeiti is a 360ha rainforest property located between Taranaki Maunga and the coast, just south of Ngāmotu -New Plymouth. Established in 1951, Pukeiti is an internationally recognised garden and plant collection. Pukeiti displays hundreds of varieties of rhododendrons as well as complementary native and exotic plantings. Rhododendron species and hybrids flaunt themselves during the long flowering season (July – March). Lake Mangamahoe is a popular location for mountain biking, walking, and running, and has a bridle path for horses, a scenic lake and park, not to mention the multiple lookout vantage points that offer iconic and spectacular views of Taranaki Maunga across the lake.

Lake Rotomanu situated near Te Rewa Rewa Bridge and the Coastal Walkway, is a popular recreational area for watersports including jetskiing, waterskiing, boating and kayaking, as well as walking and picnics.
